First day in Siem Reap and Angkor Wat – Day 11

APOLOGIES EVERYONE.......LAST FEW DAYS WE HAVE BEEN OUT ON TREK AND PRIOR TO THAT OUR ACCOMMODATION DID NOT HAVE WI-FI....BUT WE’RE BACK NOW....ENJOY THE READ AND HOPEFULLY YOU’LL GET A FLAVOUR OF WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO OVER THE LAST 5 DAYS.
Today was a very restful and relaxed day and we all got to sleep in and enjoy our very comfortable beds. Once we all woke from our beauty sleep it was off to breakfast to enjoy a variety of dishes cooked by the Okay1Villa guesthouse. Most people’s choices of food were either banana pancakes or cheeseburgers with French fries. To our Astonishment the night previously we all discovered that the guesthouse offers massages and has a pool. So without question everyone darted up to the pool for a morning swim followed by lunch and an afternoon massage (which was amazing!).

Relaxation time was over time for awesome time. Angkor Wat awaited us as we travelled by Tuk-Tuk to the ticket both. The plan was to purchase tickets later in the day so our access lasted for the day after so we could see the sunrise as well as the sun set. We received our tickets with our funny photos on them and made our way to the entrance of Angkor Wat. The entrance itself was amazing but we didn’t stay long. The tuk tuks dropped us off on the wrong side of the temple, so we had to walk briskly through it taking in only small amazing glimpses of its outside structure. Once on the other side of the temple we could stop and take in the spectacle. The sun had set and the temples magnificent towers stood silhouetted to the horizon which gave us a great opportunity to take many beautiful photos. We finished for the night at the temple we drove back to the guesthouse for a short while and made our first trip to the night markets in Siem reap. Everyone broke into small groups to roam the markets (minimum 4). Each group was responsible for getting itself back to the guesthouse before 10 o’clock. Having this responsibility was stressful to some but a good learning experience to have.

Quote of the day (In actual fact a whole story of the day): After Cliff was reflecting on his visit to Ciaro City and a trip to the Pyramids....Kiara pipes up....have you ever been to Egypt Cliff????  hahahahahaha
